{- per Boarshill on HEIRtagger: "This is an immensely detailed and fascinating photo. There is far too much detail to tag everything. It is taken from the east cliffs up above Whitby, near the Church of St Mary / Abbey area, and looks out westwards /WNW. Contains fishing equipment, bathing huts, washing out on lines, filthy smoke from chimneys, parks, people walking dogs, grand steps up to the hotels above. The more you look, the more you see!"

per EastMarple1 on HEIRtagger: "Re: George Washington Wilson - see https://www.abdn.ac.uk/historic/gww/ The University of Aberdeen's searchable online database of his photographs. If do a keyword search for Whitby this image is one of many in the results." -}

Per email from Sue Bird 21/09/2021: "Just running through geogbx72 - images of England ...

51434 - yet another G.W.W. image re-purposed by Newton: Slide 735 of Physiographical geology: XI. Local oscillations of land E. Lake & river terraces (lecture: Newton & Co., 30 slides, in/before 1909)
Aberdeen has this image as G.W.W. no. 5426 listed in 1896 catalogue..."
