{- per John Nandris: Nea Nikomedea is on the plain of Macedon 11 kms north of Verroia. Inspecting the main secton in 1961 are, from left to right, Mrs Molly Clark, Prof JGD Clark, and Bob Rodden the excavator. Shows the absence of overburden which led Prof Clark to select the site as a prime candidate for an early neolithic excavation. It yielded a valuable site plan from the cleared area of the houses, ovens &cc in foreground, along with impressed wares, painted & monochrome wares, and many figurines. The Pontiac workmen are poised above. Seated in the foreground is Colin, now Professor Lord Renfrew who, by virtue of his connections with ICI, pioneers the earliest version in Europe of the nylon hat.
