{- per John Nandris: This sherd is unique. Although published it is unstratified and was found by John Nandris at the FTN / Mesolithic fishing site of Lepenski Vir in the Danube Gorges, within the site between the houses, during the excavation c.1968. It clearly represents a net with the knots. This demonstrates that the white-on-red [ W/R ] lattices painted especially in the southern Balkans during the earliest Neolithic [the First Temperate Neolithic / FTN / Anzabegovo &cc] are skeuomorphs of netting.
